At Alam Caldera Villa, we envisioned a mountain retreat in Kintamani, Bali, where architecture could create a deeper connection between guests and the surrounding landscape. Our approach combines the warmth of European countryside villas with the distinctive character of Kintamani, creating a resort that feels intimate, natural, and rooted in its setting.

We interpreted the European cottage silhouette through pitched roofs, natural stone façades, and warm timber elements, while using locally sourced Kintamani stone to establish a stronger sense of place. Fireplace features were introduced as a defining element, responding to Kintamani’s cool mountain climate while creating a warm and intimate atmosphere.

Working with the site’s steep contours, we positioned the villas to preserve natural terrain and maximize views toward the mountains and lake. Split-level planning and elevated structures helped minimize site intervention, while infinity pools, semi-outdoor lounges, and generous openings enhance the retreat experience.

For us, Alam Caldera Villa is an exploration of how local context, landscape, and architecture can come together to create a memorable mountain hospitality experience.
